Island tours kayak mangroves

Kayaking in the mangroves

Bonaire is home to the largest mangrove forest in the entire Dutch Caribbean. Bonaire's mangrove forest offers visitors the perfect opportunity to escape the Caribbean heat. Towering mangrove trees provide a dense canopy waiting to be explored.

In addition to their unparalleled beauty, these forests provide a wide range of ecosystem services to the island. Mangrove forests provide important habitat, breeding and hunting grounds for a number of important and regionally protected bird and fish species. In total, mangroves are home to between 60 and 80 different fish species.

In addition, mangroves are able to filter water, improving overall water quality for adjacent habitats such as seagrass beds and coral reefs. These forests also provide an important coastal defense line against storm surges, waves, and sea level rise.

Join us by kayak to explore this unique habitat of many fish, turtles, birds and coral species. We will also snorkel through a mangrove tunnel, where you can admire the beauty of the underwater world and discover the breeding grounds of the fish.
